Second post for October month

Second ICT Reflection for the month of October.
This time I did not have lesson as such but on 25th October, 2019 I took my class II section A students to the IT lab during 3rd period during .This time I could do what I wanted to do in my last blogging but it was not possible because there was no light the day when I wanted to so I just had to switched it but this time I made up to it. I asked the help of my IT instructor to make all the computers ready so that all my children gets an opportunity to at least fiddle the mouse. So this time I gave all the students the hands on practice to use the computers and open the Google page and watch their favorite program.
So in this class I put the children in three for one computer and put at least one student who already has some ideas to use the computers and later he or she could help his/her partners. And once I could set them I gave the clear instruction on how to go about for that class.
During the activity, I saw that children were very excited to Google and were trying themselves to find out the programs that the liked the most. They were also seen helping their friends to use the

computers. All the children really seemed very much excited because this was something new that they got to do in the school I was called here and there to help them and I did so and so did the IT teacher. I could say that this is all because of the ICT lesson. It caters to the need of every individual and motivates in learning new things.
In the closure part, I asked the children if they enjoyed and asked few of them to share their experiences on how they felt to get an opportunity to touch the computers on their own.Children followed the instructions and participated fully to share their own ideas. I could see my children happy and enjoying the lesson. This clearly shows that how much our children love to learn ICT lesson.
ICT proved to be very enriching and insightful which lead the class to be interactive and encourage students to express freely thereby promoting thinking skills. Children became more energetic and participated well and learnt better when there is variety in lesson.

!st blog Of October

First ICT Reflection for the month of October
This time I did something different from what I did in my previous few reflections. I am thinking I should have done this before. What I did was I just tried to teach my class II A’s student to learn how to use the computers in the basic level. But to do this I had a video tutorial to show them but unfortunately the power was out of order and I couldn’t wait for tomorrow because I was already getting late . Now I knew what I wanted to teach was not going to happen so I just switched my idea.
I had taught the opposites in English in the morning first period to my class II a’s student. So by the afternoon I thought why not let them teach how to browse Google in the phones and add more and more of opposites in their notes which they could find from the Google.
Now what I did was collected a few phones from my friends and made sure to be in each group of children and get the phone opened and ask if they see an icon Google let them open that first..Then I taught them to type the opposite words in the box and search and they were really surprised and excited to see many more examples there. For most of them it was not new and for few they were doing it for the first time and this is where I felt I and my children achieved something very important and resourceful for my children.
Now as I finished doing with each of the group I asked them if they can do this at home for any of the information that they wanted related to the lesson. They were very positive about it and even the ones who were new to this ideas I asked them to come to me if they needed further help.
As I finished telling them I sent a message to the classroom forum in the we chat where me and my students parents are in group to help their children at home but I also made sure that it should be done under their supervision and also the time should be maintained.
This is how I could put ICT in my lesson for today. It was quite difficult with a very large group of children but was not impossible. Ultimately I felt that my lesson was a success with little

group of children. I tried giving my best.

2nd blog,September,Representing Numbers Greater then hundred

Subject: Mathematics.
Topic: Representing Numbers Greater than 100                 Class: II              Section: A
 Day & date: Friday, September 27, 2019                  Period: 5th         Duration: 50 minutes.

“Representing Numbers Greater than 100”. This time, actually once I thought I would download the video tutorial and let the children watch in groups in the laptop in the class but with the large number of children I found it little time consuming in the interest of time therefore I again took the children in the IT lab and projected the lesson. Firstly, I introduced the lesson by revising the numbers beyond 100. Then children were divided into six groups of six members each and made them do the activity after the video lesson.
After watching the video, we had discussion about the video clip for sometimes. Next I provided them with A4 sized paper consisting 3-digit numbers and base ten blocks. Here they were asked to represent the number with base ten blocks in pairs. Children followed the instructions and participated fully in their activity.
As a follow up of the activity, they  one member explained about the representation of the numbers. All the students did a wonderful job in their group work as well as in explanations. I concluded my lesson by showing a number cards and letting few children to represent the number with base ten blocks.
The use of technology has definitely provided room for students to explore, being creative, critical thinker and helped to enhance their learning. The ICT integrated lesson planning is purely a child centered approach where teacher should be a mere facilitator and a guide.
Moreover, children learnt better when we have ICT integration lesson.  It proved to be very enriching and insightful which lead the class to be interactive and encourage students to express freely thereby promoting thinking skills

First post for September,2019

First ICT Reflection for the month of September
The lesson was taught on 9th September, 2019 in class II section A. To teach the topic “Recording 2-digit Addition", I used the video tutorial from the Utube.
This time, I felt very contented and satisfied with the lesson as I could see my children enjoying throughout the lesson. They were very active and interactive after watching the video tutorial.
In my lesson, I had an activity which I wanted them to do as homework but  as there was time, my students wanted me to give it as class work which indicated that they got the clear concept from the video tutorial. So, I gave them to do the activity in the class and was surprised to see that within five minutes everybody could complete the activity and all the students’ answers were correct. Their performance truly proved that our students are not that poor and can perform up to teachers’ expectation, we the teachers only need to have variations in teaching strategy.
In the closure part, I let them do the activity in their groups (i.e number heads together). I saw eagerness in children’s behaviors to do the activity. Children followed the instructions and participated fully to share their own ideas. Yes, all the groups did a wonderful job by writing correct answers. I could see my children happy and enjoying the activity. This clearly shows that how much our children love to learn ICT lesson.
ICT proved to be very enriching and insightful which lead the class to be interactive and encourage students to express freely thereby promoting thinking skills. Children became more energetic and participated well and learnt better when there is variety in lesson.

2nd Post of August, Teaching 3D shapes through ICT

Second ICT Reflection for the month of August
The lesson was taught on 23rd August, 2019 in class II section A. To teach the topic “3D Shapes", I took my children to the IT lab and as I had already down loaded  some videos on 3D shapes  on how they can  sort out these shapes and what difference they could find with the 2D shapes that they had already learnt .
I felt very contented and satisfied with my lesson this time as I have learned that my teaching and learning was found to be very interesting, systematic, and effective. Children have enjoyed my teaching and they have learnt a lot. I could see my children enjoying throughout the lesson and see them being very active and cooperative when asked the questions..
My lesson went well as I have an interesting videos which engaged children and activities were totally based on where children could solve themselves with minimal involvement of the teacher. Here I gave clear instructions to do the activity: 1. all the students should look at the shape carefully.
2. discuss in the group and decide whether  the particular shown shapes is 3D  or not.
3. if yes, how ? Let them explain in few sentences..
I saw eagerness in children’s eyes to do the activity. Children followed the instructions and participated fully to share their own ideas. Yes, all the groups did a wonderful job by giving correct responses. I could see my children happy and enjoying the activity. At the end of the activity while I was showing the answers, they were saying “WOW” and clapping their hands.  This clearly shows that how much our children love to learn ICT lesson.
I knew that planning ICT integrated lesson has great impact in teaching, the use of technology has definitely provided room for students to explore, being creative, critical thinker and helped to enhance their learning. The ICT integrated lesson planning is purely a child centered approach where teacher should be a mere facilitator and a guide.
Moreover, children learnt better we have ICT integration lesson.  It proved to be very enriching and insightful which lead the class to be interactive and encourage students to express freely thereby promoting thinking skills. Children became more energetic and participated well and learnt better when there is variety in lesson.

ICT Stands for "Information and Communication Technologies." ICT refers to technologies that provide access to information through telecommunications. It is similar to Information Technology (IT), but focuses primarily on communication technologies. This includes the Internet, wireless networks, cell phones, and other communication mediums. In the past few decades, information and communication technologies have provided society with a vast array of new communication capabilities. For example, people can communicate in real-time with others in different countries using technologies such as instant messaging, voice over IP (VoIP), and video-conferencing. Social networking websites like Facebook allow users from all over the world to remain in contact and communicate on a regular basis.
Nowadays the role of Information and communication Technology (ICT), in the education sector plays an important role, especially in the process of empowering the technology into the educational activities. ... “ICT plays a catalytic role in enhancing learning in classroom and beyond.
ICT  is a technological source to make information available at the right time, right place in the right form to the right user. Earlier, one had to wait for the newspapers to get the information across the world. Now with the smarter technology, information can be accessed from anywhere using smartphones and gadgets. All this is made possible with the help of Information and Communication Technology. Information technology has been influencing our lives in the recent years in the fields of education, healthcare, and business. Going an extra mile, Information and communication technology in schools has had a major impact. Information and communication technology in schools can be used as a school communication tool to improve student learning and better teaching techniques. With the advancement of technology in education, schools adopt school communication software to transmit, store, share or exchange information. In this technological era, ICT in education has compelled many schools to get accustomed to smart technology. This school communication software uses computers, the internet, and multimedia as the medium of communication.
ICTs can enhance the quality of education in several ways: by increasing learner motivation and engagement, by facilitating the acquisition of basic skills, and by enhancing teacher training. ICTs are also transformational tools which, when used appropriately, can promote the shift to a learner-centred environment.
Students Use their ICT capability to assist and progress their learning in subjects; Engage in higher-order thinking skills, for example by using ICT to undertake detailed analysis when modelling data; ... The transferability of ICT capability is an important aspect of progression in students' knowledge, skills and understanding.

What is ICT?

One useful definition comes from Pisapia (1994) who borrowing from earlier definitions, states: Integrating technology with teaching means the use of learning technologies to introduce, reinforce, supplement and extend skills…. The difference between the classrooms of exemplary user of technology and technology user is the way their classes are conducted. In the exemplary classrooms, student use of computers is woven integrally into patterns of teaching; software is natural extension of student tools… For example, if a teacher merely tells student to read a book without any preparation for followup activities that put the book in pedagogical context; the book is un-integrated. If a teacher uses the computer to reward children by allowing them to play a game, the computer is unintegrated.
