2nd Post of August, Teaching 3D shapes through ICT

Second ICT Reflection for the month of August
The lesson was taught on 23rd August, 2019 in class II section A. To teach the topic “3D Shapes", I took my children to the IT lab and as I had already down loaded  some videos on 3D shapes  on how they can  sort out these shapes and what difference they could find with the 2D shapes that they had already learnt .
I felt very contented and satisfied with my lesson this time as I have learned that my teaching and learning was found to be very interesting, systematic, and effective. Children have enjoyed my teaching and they have learnt a lot. I could see my children enjoying throughout the lesson and see them being very active and cooperative when asked the questions..
My lesson went well as I have an interesting videos which engaged children and activities were totally based on where children could solve themselves with minimal involvement of the teacher. Here I gave clear instructions to do the activity: 1. all the students should look at the shape carefully.
2. discuss in the group and decide whether  the particular shown shapes is 3D  or not.
3. if yes, how ? Let them explain in few sentences..
I saw eagerness in children’s eyes to do the activity. Children followed the instructions and participated fully to share their own ideas. Yes, all the groups did a wonderful job by giving correct responses. I could see my children happy and enjoying the activity. At the end of the activity while I was showing the answers, they were saying “WOW” and clapping their hands.  This clearly shows that how much our children love to learn ICT lesson.
I knew that planning ICT integrated lesson has great impact in teaching, the use of technology has definitely provided room for students to explore, being creative, critical thinker and helped to enhance their learning. The ICT integrated lesson planning is purely a child centered approach where teacher should be a mere facilitator and a guide.
Moreover, children learnt better we have ICT integration lesson.  It proved to be very enriching and insightful which lead the class to be interactive and encourage students to express freely thereby promoting thinking skills. Children became more energetic and participated well and learnt better when there is variety in lesson.

  1. Wow its nice to see that teaching 3D shapes using ICT helps us as well as the children.
To us- we do not have to draw 3D shape on the chart paper which doesn't look realistic after drawing as well as it's difficult to show from all angles but with the help of ICT we can show the correct shape from any angle.
To students- they learn and can keep it for longer duration because once they are infront of the projector the curiosity develops and even their concentration towards the lesson increases. They also completes the work on or before the time.

  3. You have done good job la. We know that different child has different abilities to learn. All the child is not same and thinking that you used your ICT tools to uplift the learning standards to each child through visualisation. Keep on going la, you can also find other ways of teaching in future post.

  5. Teaching maths especially 3D shapes has become more integral with using ICT. The work you done will surely have many positive impact on your children. These days our young learner shows more interest and motivation when we teach through ICT rather than traditional methods. I would recomment you to have similar lesson in future too given the ICT infrastructure in your school. Keep it up!!!

  6. It seems you children have really enjoyed the lesson. ICT can do magic in the classroom. In fact, ICT teaching works well in mathematics. More over, if we teachers keep on teaching through ICT, children might learn how to use their mobile phones in an efficient ways.

  13. ICT is a powerful tool that can be use for various purposes. As mentioned, we can show infinite examples in the form of pictures, graphs, videos etc. to suppliment our teaching. ICT is benefical especially while carring out the activities. As we can keep the instructions displayed on the screen. Compare to the first post, I saw drastic change in use of ict in second post. So, move forward to bring changes to self and the taught.
