First ICT Reflection
for the month of October
This time I did
something different from what I did in my previous few reflections. I am
thinking I should have done this before. What I did was I just tried to teach
my class II A’s student to learn how to use the computers in the basic level. But
to do this I had a video tutorial to show them but unfortunately the power was
out of order and I couldn’t wait for tomorrow because I was already getting
late . Now I knew what I wanted to teach was not going to happen so I just
switched my idea.
I had taught the
opposites in English in the morning first period to my class II a’s student. So
by the afternoon I thought why not let them teach how to browse Google in the
phones and add more and more of opposites in their notes which they could find
from the Google.
Now what I did was
collected a few phones from my friends and made sure to be in each group of
children and get the phone opened and ask if they see an icon Google let them
open that first..Then I taught them to type the opposite words in the box and
search and they were really surprised and excited to see many more examples
there. For most of them it was not new and for few they were doing it for the
first time and this is where I felt I and my children achieved something very
important and resourceful for my children.
Now as I finished doing
with each of the group I asked them if they can do this at home for any of the
information that they wanted related to the lesson. They were very positive
about it and even the ones who were new to this ideas I asked them to come to
me if they needed further help.
As I finished telling
them I sent a message to the classroom forum in the we chat where me and my
students parents are in group to help their children at home but I also made
sure that it should be done under their supervision and also the time should be
maintained.
This is how I could put
ICT in my lesson for today. It was quite difficult with a very large group of
children but was not impossible. Ultimately I felt that my lesson was a success
with little
group of children. I tried giving my best.

In this lesson you have some something useful mam. Teaching children how to use phone in an effective way is something extraordinary than a normal teaching. Now a days, every child posses a phone but they use it for entertainment only. But in your lesson you have taught them a valuable skill beside opposite as your topic. Well done mam.

ReplyDeleteI liked your finding and post so much madam. Yes, as you have done if it is use meaningfully it will help all the stakeholders like teacher, students and students parents at large.
Great idea displayed and have learned something from your lesson madam.
Keep it up....
Hope your students will continue using the same idea of learning through we-chat at their home too as per your suggestions madam.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, it was a worth article to go through. Keep going madam.
Wow...
Good idea. Children learn better through different modes.
ReplyDeleteIts a great idea you have integrated ICT in your lesson. While going through your post i found it was very informative and enriching.Keep it up!Keep exploring more ideas in future too.
ReplyDeleteGood work in using ICT in a simple way. This kind of activities helps them learn a lot apart from just the teacher giving the information.
ReplyDeleteDespite the power disruption, your switching idea was a great one.I have learnt a lot. Thanks for sharing your idea la...
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. It was nice idea. Keep up
ReplyDeleteWonderful idea.it will really enhance teaching andlearning
ReplyDeleteIt's great to know your grade TWO students were using phone to find out the opposite words. This is one way of encouraging our youth in ICT user. It's good and keep on going la.
ReplyDeleteUsing smart phones in teaching and learning is of good idea becsuse:
ReplyDelete1. It is portable
2. Today, every child posses a phone.
3. Net connectivity will be available.
4. Children are much use to it.
5. Opportunity to teach use of phones. Therefore, it is of great idea to use phone in the classroom. So keep going la.
Using resources from google has been a best way to deliver the lesson in this era and yiu did great job. However instead of children asking problem to come to you....you should have kept moving in the class to see whether all the children are doing as you intended or not...help to needy ones. Otherwise your lesson was perfect. Great work!!!
ReplyDeleteMade best use of the resources which enriches the children's learning. Wonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteOne way of providing opportunity to feel the taste of ict. But teacher should be very veigilant as children might land up in browsing unwanted movies from the net. In your case, you have done wonderful job. You have provided clear instructions on how you want to carry out the work.
